The radio telescope at the CSIRO Observatory in Parkes, New South Wales.
The main telescope pictured here has a 64 metre diameter dish and has been in use since the early 1960s. Apart from its normal role in radio astronomy the telescope has been used as a communications base station for many NASA missions (Huygens, Cassini, Galileo, Voyager and Mariner) and perhaps most famously the 1969 moon landing.
