Mount Earnslaw and the Earnslaw Glacier in Mount Aspiring National Park.
Mount Earnslaw is a double-peaked summit in the Southern Alps of New Zealand's south island. The East Peak (2830 metres, 9280 feet) is in bright sunshine, whilst the slightly lower West Peak (2820 metres, 9250 feet) casts a deep shadow over the Earnslaw Glacier, which spills down the mountainside below. The glacier drops almost 1300 metres (4,265 feet) in less than 500 metres distance, before terminating in spectacular ice cliffs.
Like many locations in this area, the mountain and the valleys below featured as backdrops for The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit trilogies.
I am a photographer based in Sydney, Australia. I shoot mostly landscapes but include the occasional urban, flora and fauna shots for good measure. My photographs in these collections were taken in Australia, New Zealand, United Kingdom, Iceland and USA. Please note that watermarks do not appear on printed images.
