Sunset behind Mt Ngauruhoe.
Mt Ngauruhoe is an active subduction volcano located in the Tongariro World Heritage Area of New Zealand's North Island. The desolation of the surrounding region and its classic conical shape gave the mountain a starring role as Mount Doom in the Mordor scenes of the Lord of the Rings films.
