A rainbow brightens the skies across the Appalachian Mountains in North Carolina.

A rare feature of this rainbow is the presence of additional bands inside the main bow. These bands are known as supernumerary rainbows or supernumerary bands, and are caused by the interference of light rays as they pass through the raindrops. Their colours are more subdued than in the main bow.

I am a photographer based in Sydney, Australia. I shoot mostly landscapes but include the occasional urban, flora and fauna shots for good measure.
