Description
The silver gull (Chroicocephalus novaehollandiae) is ubiquitous across coastal areas of eastern Australia. They sport white plumage with black-tipped silver wings and a bright red beak and legs. Adults have a wingspan of approximately 90 cm.
Their natural diet is seafood – fish, shellfish and worms, however every Australian child can tell the story of when their lunch was stolen by a hungry seagull.
This one has slowed down and flared its wings in preparation for landing.
