Description
Number 5 locomotive pulling two cars on the West Coast Wilderness Railway near Queenstown, Tasmania.
The railway, now run as a tourist service, uses the former Mount Lyell Mining and Railway Company lines between Queenstown and Strahan. The line was in service from 1897 – 1963 transporting ore from the mine to port. It was refurbished and re-opened in 2002 as a tourist railway. Some of the steeper sections feature dual racks to assist with traction.
