The Welcome Swallow (Hirundo neoxena) lives in coastal and forested areas of eastern Australia, migrating to northern Australia in the winter. They are so named as their return to southern climbs is seen to herald the start of spring.
They are small, fast and quite elusive. They sport a metallic blue cap, rusty red face and throat, dark brown wings and white breast.
