Description
Glacial lakes fed by the melting of glaciers. This photograph shows the Classen Glacier and its terminal lake on the left and the Godley Glacier and its terminal lake on the right. The extremities of both glaciers are covered by moraines which are helping to mediate the rate of melting. The lakes drain into the Godley River.
These glaciers are located in the Canterbury Province of New Zealand's South Island, high in the middle of the Southern Alps.
