Description
This collection of rocky pinnacles is found high upon The Storr, a craggy range of hills on the Trotternish peninsula of Skye.
The left-most pinnacle is known locally as The Old Man of Storr.
Legends vary as to how these features came about. Some say the pinnacles are the protruding toes of a giant, fast asleep under the mountain. Others report that a party of trolls was transfixed by the view and didn’t notice dawn sneaking up on them. When the sun rose over the horizon they turned instantly to stone.
