Description
Peering into the caldera of White Island (Whakaari), New Zealand's most active volcano.
The caldera walls are painted with sulphur from the volcanic gases. The volcano rises 1600m from the sea floor, but only the top 300m is above sea level. White Island is located in the Bay of Plenty off the eastern coast of New Zealand's North Island.
