A female Satin Bowerbird (Ptilonorhynchus violaceus) perching in the rainforest canopy.
Satin bowerbirds live in the rainforests of eastern Australia. Male satin bowerbirds are black all over with a blue metallic sheen. Females feature brown wings and tail with green and yellow scallops on their bodies. Both sexes have startling deep blue-purple eyes.
