Description
Evening view of the Sangre de Cristo Range as seen from the San Luis Valley in southern Colorado. The peaks rise up to 7000 feet above the valley floor and include some of the highest mountains in the Rockies.
The name of the mountain range (in English "The Blood of Christ") derives from the alpenglow effect often seen above the peaks. It lives up to its name on an evening like this.
The Great Sand Dunes National Park can be seen in front of the lower slopes.
