Artist's Description
The painted walls of the Black Canyon of the Gunnison River.
Located in southern Colorado the Gunnison River has carved a 2000 foot deep canyon through gneiss and schist. The marbling effect on the cliff walls is from the penetration of igneous dikes into the overlying strata.
