Description
The Eclectus Parrot (Eclectus roratus) is native to tropical Australia, New Guinea and the Solomon Islands. It is sexually dimorphic with the bright green males and red and blue females long believed to belong to different species. Their diet consists of rainforest fruits, nuts, seeds and flower buds.
The male (shown here) has emerald green plumage, with red under the wings, bright blue on the leading edge of the wings, and blue edged tail feathers. The beak fades from orange to yellow.
