Description
Lake Parramatta is a small fresh-water lake in western Sydney. The lake was created in 1856 by damming Hunt's Creek, and was used as the water supply for the nearby town of Parramatta. In 1909 the water supply plant was decommissioned and the lake and surrounding bushland was turned over to be a nature reserve.
This photograph shows the lake in the still and quiet of an autumn morning. The first rays of sunlight have just reached the treetops on the far side of the lake. A gentle mist is rising from the glassy lake surface.
