Description
The Hoover Dam is located in southern Nevada, straddling the border with Arizona. The dam was built in the 1930s for irrigation, flood control and hydroelectric power. Several years of drought and over allocation of water has left the level in Lake Mead extremely low.
The Mike O'Callaghan-Pat Tillman Memorial Bridge crosses the Colorado River at the rear of the dam. The bridge was built in 2010 and is the world's highest concrete arch bridge.
