The Grand Prismatic Spring, located in Yellowstone National Park, Wyoming.
The spring is named for the progression of colours from centre to outside (blue,cyan,green,yellow,orange,red-brown, mimicking the colours of the rainbow. The colours arise from carotenoids and chlorophylls in the thermophilic bacterial mats.
