Description
Hoodoos and rock spires form in dry landscapes subject to freezing overnight temperatures. Water that has percolated into the rock expands as it freezes, gradually chipping away at the structure, leaving behind pillars, cliffs, arches and hoodoos.
This photograph was taken in Bryce Canyon, Utah, where the world’s greatest concentration of these stunning rock formations can be found.
