Description
Night view of Pyrmont Bridge, Sydney. Pyrmont Bridge spans Cockle Bay in Darling Harbour, itself part of the larger Sydney Harbour.
Several bridges have been built on this location. The current bridge was built in 1902 and was one of the main traffic routes into the Sydney central business district for 80 years. The bridge is an iron swing-span model, and this photograph shows the old control room. A full moon is rising behind the city skyscrapers to the rear.
The bridge was bypassed and closed to motor traffic in the 1980s and is now used by pedestrians only.
