Description
Forty Baskets Beach is a harbour beach located in the northern Sydney suburb of Balgowlah. The beach has been a popular location since time immemorial, first used by indigenous Australians as a fishing and camping site. It received its current name in 1865 after some local fisherman caught 40 baskets of fish for the inmates of the nearby Quarantine Station.
